EIAS – Ecophon International Acoustics Seminar
Some people walk into a room and feel at ease. You walk in and start listening. To what the space does, what it should do, and what it would take to get there. If that is how your mind works, EIAS was made for you.
EIAS brings together researchers, consultants, psychoacoustics experts and professionals from across the world – people who have dedicated their working lives to understanding how spaces sound and what that means for the people inside them.
They come to share new findings, present the latest research and have the kind of conversations that are hard to have anywhere else.
The science is serious. The setting is not stiff. And the ideas that surface here have a way of shaping the field long after the event is over.

WHY IT MATTERS
Acoustics matter – it is all around us
Most people rarely think about room acoustics. They simply know when something feels off – when a space is tiring to be in, when conversation takes effort, or when a room that looks right somehow does not feel right. What they are sensing, often without knowing how to name it, is acoustics.
The people who come to EIAS know this. They are the ones who study sound, measure it, design for it and advocate for its role in the built environment.
The 2027 theme, Sound Pilot™, reflects the role of people who explore sound environments with curiosity, precision and purpose.
A pilot does not simply observe. A pilot navigates, tests, adjusts and finds a way forward. In the same way, the people who come to EIAS help navigate complex acoustic questions – connecting research with everyday spaces and the people who use them.
A community across disciplines and borders
EIAS draws people from more than 30 countries – but what makes the room interesting is not the geography, it is the mix. Acoustic researchers sit alongside consultants. Psychoacoustics specialists compare notes with architects and building designers. Everyone arrives with a different angle on the same subject, and that friction is where the most interesting conversations happen.
It is a community that has been building for decades – and last time we gathered in 2023, more than 200 delegates from 30+ countries showed up to prove it.
Two days, one focus
The programme is carefully curated – keynotes, research presentations and sessions designed to be relevant across disciplines, connecting the science of acoustics to architecture, design, health and the built environment. But the programme is only part of it.
EIAS is not a large-scale conference. It is a gathering where the size is deliberate, the setting is chosen with care, and the person presenting the research you just heard is the same one you find yourself talking to over dinner.
